Founded in 1989, at present ,Tibetan medicine department of TTMC have seven teaching institutions, which is Tibetan medical department office, Tibetan medical basic staff room, Tibetan medical clinical staff room, Tibetan medicinal staff room, language staff room, moral education staff room and gym staff room.
Tibetan medicine department set up Tibetan medical academy specialty (three years system), Tibetan medical undergraduate specialty (five years system), Tibetan medicinal academy specialty (four years system) , Tibetan medicinal academy specialty (five years system), astronomic calendar specialty ( four years system). Curriculum of Tibetan medical specialty design 30 based courses, 12 modern medicine, Chinese medicine and cross-courses and 17 public courses. Course of Tibetan Medicinal specialty have 21 based courses, 12 modern medicine, Chinese medicine and cross-courses and 16 public courses. Astronomic calendar specialty designs 6 special basic course, 9 specialty course, a supporting specialty and cross-course and 6 public course.
There are now 66 teachers in TTMC now, among which 50 are full-time teachers, 16 are part-time ones. Among full-time teachers two professors accounts for 4 percent, 7 assistant professor takes 14 percent, 12 persons with master degree 24 percent, 25 instructors 50 percent, 6 assistant instructors 12 percent. In faculty there are 3 municipality-level experts with leading subject , 9 outstanding teachers and a excellent teacher in charge of a class, and 1 experts benefiting from the municipality government's special subsidy.
